At Niagara Health, we're adapting our care delivery to meet these evolving needs. Our Emergency Departments now offer specialized geriatric assessments, focusing on avoiding unnecessary admissions. Inpatient care emphasizes preventing complications like delirium and falls, ensuring patients can return home safely. Outpatient settings provide coordinated follow-up and long-term support for complex conditions.
The new South Niagara Hospital is a testament to our commitment to older person-focused care. Designed with over 160 features to create a senior-friendly environment, it will serve as Niagara Health's Centre of Excellence for Wellness in Aging. This center aims to unify existing programs and expertise across all our sites, ensuring a consistent and coordinated approach to geriatric care.
